UniSA Intern Project ‘ReimburseMe’ Wins Industry Recognition at 2025 Enterprising STEM Expo

Secora is proud to celebrate the success of University of South Australia (UniSA) students Daniela Paz Barrientos Rivas and Emma Paulina Cruz Mora, whose project ‘ReimburseMe’ was awarded the Industry Expo Day Award at the 2025 Enterprising STEM Expo.

Developed during a 12-week internship with Secora Garage between August and October 2025, ReimburseMe is an innovative low-code solution designed to streamline expense management within Secora’s Microsoft 365 environment. Built using Microsoft Power Apps, SharePoint, and Power BI, the app allows staff to upload, validate, and track receipts in real time - reducing manual handling and increasing accuracy and speed across the reimbursement process.

The prototype demonstrates how automation and low-code technologies can transform routine administrative workflows into efficient, data-driven processes. With integrated analytics and automated notifications, ReimburseMe enables both staff and the Finance team to manage reimbursements transparently and efficiently within a single digital ecosystem.

Collaborative Innovation in Action

The project was guided by Secora’s Program Lead Ana Kuusk, Project Manager Ganesh Kumar and UniSA Project Mentor Professor Markus Stumptner. The initiative forms part of the broader Secora-UniSA collaboration that gives final-year students the opportunity to apply their studies in a practical, industry-driven setting.

“This partnership continues to show the value of combining academic insight with real-world application,” said Dr Ana Kuusk. “The ReimburseMe project not only delivered a well-designed solution but also demonstrated the creativity and capability of the next generation of digital professionals.”.

Looking Ahead

All UniSA internship projects are currently at the proposal and prototype stage, with potential for future development and implementation. Together, these collaborations reflect Secora’s ongoing investment in applied learning, emerging technology, and community engagement.

Congratulations again to Daniela and Emma for their outstanding achievement; and to all the UniSA interns who continue to bring energy, curiosity, and innovation to Secora Garage.
