Celebrating Tumi’s Academic Excellence and Community Leadership

A portrait of Tumi Ayodeji

Congratulations to Tumi Ayodeji, who has been recognised by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) for both academic excellence and meaningful contribution to the student community.

Tumi received the Executive Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence for Semester 2, 2025, alongside a Certificate of Recognition for voluntary service as a Peer Learning Leader. These honours reflect not only strong academic performance but also a genuine commitment to supporting peers and fostering a collaborative learning environment.

During the semester, Tumi completed three advanced subjects at QUT:
• EGH449: Advanced Electronics
• EGB345: Control and Dynamic Systems
• EGH404: Research in Engineering Practice (capstone preparation)

On top of this demanding load, Tumi also completed MIT’s Data Science & Machine Learning (DSML) programme, delivered by the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) in the US. This course focused on applied data analysis, statistical modelling, and machine learning. Balancing it alongside university studies, Tumi has already begun applying key concepts directly in her work, particularly in data-driven modelling and analysis.

Alongside study commitments, Tumi volunteered through QUT’s SAGE Peer Learning Program, supporting students in EGB242: Signal Analysis. The role offered a chance to revisit subject matter she enjoyed, share effective learning approaches, and support others as they built their confidence with complex concepts.

Tumi reflects that the Peer Learning Leader experience strengthened understanding, built confidence, and reinforced a passion for helping others grow. Connecting with the teaching team and the wider Peer Learning community made the experience even more rewarding.

Looking ahead, Tumi plans to contribute more volunteering hours in 2026 and bring this momentum into next year’s capstone and new engineering challenges.

This recognition caps off a strong year of achievements across the Secora team. Congratulations to Tumi on these well-earned honours—we’re proud to celebrate this milestone with her and look forward to what comes next.
